Welcome to Oscar World !
I need to have a word with the event co-ordinator fo the Academy Awards... Patch me through.
I don't know what the budget was but i am guessing ALOT so lets talk about the cardboard cut out gold men behind Quentin and Diane. Remind you of going to the photo booth at Movie World and getting your picture taken with a cardboard super man much ??? I say loose them or make them those really big ones where you wonder if there is chocolate inside !!! Just a thought ...

If my high heels are supposed to get me closer to heaven then the rent they’re charging is going to kill me
It is a sad day (I don’t care who says it isn’t) when you have to take your favorite pair of heels to the shoe doctor. Leaving then in the hands of a stranger all because you decided to ignore the signs of neglect and continue to wear them when the sole clearly needed attention and the heel was one dance floor away from being exposed. This is where you pay the price. And this is where I compare a female’s attachment to shoes to an enthusiastic driver and their car’s wheels. If the tires on a car are its connection to the road and should never to be neglected or skimped on price because quality tires ensure the cars drive, then a pair of Urban Soul heels is a woman’s tire. And should never be skimped on price or you feet will pay for it. You should also pick a trusted mechanic/shoe doctor to ensure they always come back happy. I will pick up two of my shoes (children) tomorrow and hand over $88 for them, ex’y I know but as a parent I neglected and now I should pay the price, just the same when my mum didn’t take me to the dentist for a year when I was 9yo and got slapped with a bill bigger than my shoe collection 6 fillings later. So I suggest you act now! Lets face it your favorite pair of pumps are always there… protecting us from harm ( AKA making your feet hurt so much letting you know you need to go home!) and best of all they complete us…I mean our outfit.

Thank You Shoppers
I have found something worth obsessing about ! You may have know about this for sometime but I have only decided to indulge in this fast passed and exciting phenomenon recently. Yes that’s right I have started an EBAY store ! Forever have I searched for a way to refresh my wardrobe with out spending , and I have found the solution by working hard and sticking to some simple rules I have spent NO money to have a NEW wardrobe.
When I say work hard it is the effort that goes into uploading my unwanted items and tracking them, writing the perfect description, relaying with potential buyers via email about my items and then finally posting my clothes off to their new home. They are really the only hard bits the rest of the time I’m sitting back watching my Pay pal account fill up with the good stuff ! (Note.. ‘Good stuff’ AKA stuff given in exchange for shinny new outfits and shoes ) This is however the moment where everything could turn pear shaped ! So I have a set in place a golden rule.
Never spend more on the new than you made on the old ! … meaning instead of repeating bad mistakes of purchasing a brown leather cowboy inspired vest because I think I would wear it even though it was 100 clams. I only spend the money I make on EBay from my old items on new items. A straight swap in my mind. So really I should be thanking the shoppers of EBay for my new black and white striped nautical blazer from Bardot. Thank You Shoppers and come again !

Abolish these trends now !!
Its very risking when being a social/ fashion commentator to stand forward and predict what you believe to be a trend that is dead or overdone. I’m not afraid to do so. The following trends should be abolished, stopped, eliminated, eradicated and brought to an end. Working in fashion retail these trends cross my path everyday. And please don’t get me wrong I am a victim to my trade and completely dedicated to the hottest and straight of the runway looks to make you drool. The follow however are NOT
1- Chipped Nail Polish. Black Particularly!! –I understand that when you live a busy lifestyle (or a student one) having the time to get a manicure or even a DIY at home is all about finding the time. HOWEVER. Wearing chipped and flawed BLACK nail polish does not portray an ‘I don’t care what I look like trend’ it just plainly looks like you have been digging in dirt. Full stop
2- Wearing the same as four other friends at the same time- Jinx much!
3 -Dressing it down all the time – Looking like you have stepped off the set of a re-make of Gilligan’s Island is not a trend, its just down right lazy.
NOW do not mistake dressing it down with the hottest trend right now the 1990’s Garage Days, girl next door look.
4- Wearing Thongs with Labels – I don’t care if the only thing you can wear on your feet is your $2 or $20 Havianna thongs, if you put on a designer label i.e. Zimmerman’s new floral collection autumn/ Winter 10 you owe that dress more than a two bit piece of rubber. Full stop
5 - Fake Tan – orange, smelly, cover-up and essentially fake. Enough said!
If you don’t agree with me then clearly you indulge in one of these five because they ultimately come in a one package 99% of the time.

Soul Destroying
' I dont like the colour', 'I dont like the cut", or simply 'It's not what I'm looking for'.
But then you can bear witness to some of the most soul destroying comments, that leave you with your jaw on the floor as you watch a young figure in a size 6 tear herself apart in front of a mirror. It's the age old question that has destroyed womens love for their own bodies and in the extreme it has bent eating habits in the youngest of girls.
"Does my bum look big in this?" Do you think that if the first women to ever say that had turned her words around and said 'These pants just aren't for me but i bet i would look amazing in a high waisted tailored number' that we would even be in this mess ?
I'm not over reacting when i say i have heard women literally say the words
" I am too ugly for this dress"
This is completely soul destroying ! You should never say that about yourself. If anything the dress is not worthy of YOUR body shape or YOUR style... Don't get me worng i am female and i have had moments where i feel like not even a full track suit looks good on me but i know what does and i know what i feel amazing in ! So no i dont try on things that i know are not going to suit my body shape and yes when you try on a dress that looks amazing you should repeat after me...
"this dress is lucky to look so good on me, I am too amazing in this dress"
Much love

A minute inside a dreamers mind…
When your young you are asked the question about a million times…What do you want to be when you grow up? Policeman, doctor, teacher and dancer are in the top ten responses. We were asked the question so many times that we could have given a different answer each time and never repeated an occupation. I over heard a small child and his mum on the bus on the way to work one day and his mum had asked the question (probably for the hundredth time)
What do you want to be when you grow up sweetie ?...
The small child replied,
‘Mum, you have asked me one million times if you forget again I will have to give you a time out’
Smart kid!
Maybe being asked this question too many times affects the way we look at working and getting a job. It took me 2 years of a degree that I wasn’t happy in to realise that I should make a degree ‘fit me’ rather than trying to change what I was good at or what I loved to fit a specified course. Insert a lot of soul searching and that lead me to where I am today.
I am about to graduate from a Bachelor of Business in Marketing with a Major in Design. I love communicating with people and integrating strategies with real life situations. I strive to achieve goals and build business strategies from brain storming ideas. I enjoy testing the boundaries of new social media techniques and how they affect consumer, brand relationships. The psychologies of consumerism and consumer behaviour are two fields I have excelled in. I will continue to brand myself as an ambassador of the importance of customer service and relationship marketing. Fashion is my love and the retail industry is where my expertise (and most of my savings) are. This is what I am good at and this is what I will continue to strive to improve at. So if you where to ask me the question again ... that is what I want to be when I grow up.
Thanks Mike !
Sometime in life you find a friend that can give you the inspiration to be great ! I have a lot of amazing people in my life and each and every one of them inspire me to go after my goals. They are also there when I get knocked back and comfort me with ice-cream and loving words… but then there are those friends that have the ability to kick you in the behind and make you shout for what you want rather than just whisper. And take the time to say the harsh things you need to hear in order to achieve your goals. The honest voice over the crowd !
Mike Boyd is one of Brisbane’s most inspiring young entrepreneurs, digital brand consultants, motivational speaker and overall great guy. One coffee and a short three hour session with this man and he can have the most unorganised and bewildered dreamers ( such as yours truly) believing that their hair brained ideas are not only possible but could be structured and successful ventures to pursue. Calling him a life coach would be too generic and he is more than a motivational speaker, he is a ‘through anything at me and I can do it’ kind of guy. So as I begin my journey to success I have to thank Mike for everything he has done…which he may think is not much but trust me has done a lot !
Thanks Mike !
